My Personal Philosophy in Relation to Behavior and Thought Processes
This post is an introduction to the categories of this blog.
Please note that it is not my aim to forge your personal philosophy in relation
to behaviour and it’s certainly not my place to tell you how to think. I simply
wish to repeat the most common lessons in personal development literature.
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy.
Experts in the field of cognitive behavioural therapy state
that our behaviour is somewhat linked by our thoughts. Your thoughts effect
your emotions. Your emotions effect your behaviour or actions.
Therefore, it is sensible to control the thoughts that
occupies our mind. For this reason, my blog is broken down into two “thought”
related categories and just one “behaviour” related category.
Abundance
Those who have an abundance mindset will appreciate and seek
the riches in life. Those who are scarcity minded will never reach the heights
that the word has to offer.
For example, a man who has an abundance mindset knows that
his financial growth will not make another man poor. On the other hand, those
who have a scarcity mind set feel guilty when additional cash becomes
available. These people believe that more money for them equates to less money
for others. This is simply not true.
Accountability
If you have an accountability mindset, you will assume
control over every problem you may have. If the situation is out of your
control, you will actively cope with it in a way that achieves the best
possible outcome.
On the other hand, a “victim” mindset belongs to those who
always blame others for their short comings. If they are not blaming others,
they are blaming the economy, the location, the climate or anything there is to
blame.
If you have a “victim” mindset, you’re struggling because
you haven’t taken control.
Action
Our actions or “behaviour” completes the Cognitive Behaviour
Therapy cycle. Therefore, if the actions are positive, they will breed better
thoughts and emotions.
As an initial action, I would encourage you to do less. Less
television, less social media and less radio. These medias are designed to
captivate you with negativity. They provide coverage of upsetting events which
are out of your control. Furthermore, these medias may cause mental clutter and
give you a negative perspective on the world.
“But how will I be informed?”
Trust me, people can’t bloody help it! If there’s another
shooting, a whooping big hurricane or if Micky Mouse got voted president,
everyone and their dog will be thrilled to inform you!
